Our research focus lies on the electronic structure of solid surfaces and on their transport properties. We study these with angle-resolved photoemission (ARPES) and micro four-point probes. Special emphasis lies on the use of high-resolution ARPES using the group’s beamline SGM-3 at the synchrotron radiation ASTRID2 in Aarhus.

The figure shows the electronic structure of the topological insulator Bi2Se3 upon strong electron doping by an adsorbate. This leads to the unusual situation of a near-surface quantization in both the conduction band and the valence band (click on the images to see what happens while the surface is exposed to CO).
